Solving Interference Issues with SDRUno for Mac

When setting up an SDRplay RSP2 and using it with a long-wire antenna, interference can be a significant problem. In this article, we'll explore some common issues and solutions to get the most out of your SDRUno setup.

First, let's start with the basics. The SDRplay RSP2 is a great tool for monitoring radio frequencies, but it requires some tuning to optimize its performance. Alternatively, using a better antenna overall may be beneficial. In my case, I'm limited to about 50 feet of horizontal space, so I may need to explore alternative options.

Another issue that users may encounter is suppressing interfering stations and improving signal strength relative to noise in the HF spectrum. In this case, it's possible that there's a commercial broadcaster nearby that's causing the interference. One potential solution is to experiment with different SDRUno settings or try using a different antenna or configuration.

In my own experience, I found that using a ground rod outside and connecting it to the SMA plug going into the SDRplay helped improve signal quality. I also installed a balun on the antenna lead-in, which may have made a difference as well.
